Junior and Senior Ushers
Children
of grade-school age and adults can participate as ushers whose duties
include handing out the bulletins, collecting the offering, and assisting
people going to communion.
Acolytes
Young people
6th grade through high school age may participate in the church service
by being Acolytes. These duties include lighting the church candles,
processing and recessing with the clergy, assisting the priest with
communion and assisting people coming up to communion.
Oblation Bearers
Members
of the congregation are invited to bring the communion chalice and bowl
to the altar before communion.
Lay Eucharistic
Ministers and Visitors
Members
of the congregation, after attending training classes, may participate
in the communion service by offering wine to the communicants and in
bringing communion to shut-ins and those in hospital.
Lectors and Lay
Readers
High school
aged children and adults may participate in the church services by reading
lessons and leading the congregation in reading of the Psalms.
Altar Chapter
Women of
the church are invited to join the Altar Chapter. The services this
chapter provide are integral to the church services at St. Francis. The ladies take charge of all the altar linens (repairing,
cleaning and pressing). These women prepare the church for each church
service by arranging the altar flowers and preparing the altars for
the service. The Altar Chapter is in charge of arranging wedding and
funeral services as well.
